Blue was our first Great Dane, she was a rescue from an abused home and we had five memorable years with her until we had to put her down due to osteosarcoma. We found Blue listed for sale in the local paper. The ad read Blue Merle eight months old and I do not remember what the man was asking for her but it was obvious he was only interested in the money. I told my husband that I really wanted a younger puppy but we went to take a look at her. I immediately feel in love with her and it broke my heart that we left without her. When we returned home, my husband called this man and made a deal with him. We immediately went back to pick her up and bring her home, she was so excited and went with me willingly, wagging her tall all the way to the car The first thing was a bath as she was dirty and infested with mites. A trip to the vet and some antibiotics cleared that problem right up. My poor girl was thrilled to have a blanket to call her own and would lick the sprinklers for water (they must not have given her a bowl!) and did not know what to do with toys, instead she chewed on wood. It was not long before she was queen of the house with her very own bed to go with the blanket and a house full of toys and bones. Blue took to me immediately and it was not long before she can out of her shell and left her past behind her. She was a loyal, loving and protective friend. She is sadly missed by all.
